Hopkinsville church turns 175

Hopkinsville—Kelly Baptist Church in Hopkinsville is celebrating its 175th anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 10:30 a.m.

The morning will consist of former pastors, youth pastors and music directors being recognized as well as two former members who were ordained into the ministry and are now pastors elsewhere.

A history of the church in book form will be available and a presentation of old pictures will be shown. Additionally, a plaque commemorating the church’s foundation in 1841 will be presented and eventually hung in the building. Continue reading “Hopkinsville church turns 175”

Murphy retires as DOM Severns Valley

Elizabethtown—Gerald Murphy is retiring after serving as director of missions at Severns Valley Baptist Association for the past 10 years. He will retire effective March 31, 2017.

“I’ll be 66, but I’m not retiring from the ministry,” he said. “The plans are to take a month in April and go to Florida to the beach, then come back and hope that the Lord has a pastorate or something like that to keep going.” Continue reading “Murphy retires as DOM Severns Valley”

Payton begins duties as DOM for Oldham-Trimble

Crestwood—Mark Payton began duties as the new director of missions for Oldham-Trimble Association Sept. 15.

Payton brings with him 33 years of ministry experience. Payton goes to Oldham-Trimble from the pastorate of Dry Ridge Baptist Church. Before that, his ministry experience includes Shively Heights and Gethsemane Baptist churches. Continue reading “Payton begins duties as DOM for Oldham-Trimble”
