Crossings: ‘More than a camp’

LOUISVILLE—Excitement fills a worship center as 700 students make their way into “Morning Cel.” Music is pumped through the speakers and summer staff dances and cheers in the aisles, their energy spreading throughout the crowd. The morning is off to a good start with breakfast having already taken place an hour earlier. It’s another day at Crossings Camps.

Minutes into the program, a T-rex rushes onto the stage for a “T-rex dance party. The sounds of laughter from the room full of students echoes. More time is spent explaining the students’ events for the day, announcing the youth minister of the day, and hyping the kids up about camp, Jesus and missions. Ky. Changers share motivation for participating

Greensburg—Approximately 965 students, chaperones and crew leaders spent a week of their summer sleeping on air mattresses in school classrooms, showering in a Disaster Relief trailer, and working long days in the hot sun building ramps, painting houses, repairing siding and more. Their goal as Kentucky Changers was to share the gospel through their work.

The students spent time before starting on their jobsites learning the “3 Circles” evangelism method. They needed to be ready to put their training to use and share their faith as they ministered to homeowners through service projects. Continue reading “Ky. Redd nominated for KBC 2nd VP

CADIZ—-Paxton Redd, Little River Baptist Association’s director of missions, will be nominated for second vice president of the Kentucky Baptist Convention during its annual meeting in Louisville this November.

“At only age 30, he is easily one of our youngest men to serve in this field, and he has already distinguished himself as a man of character and wisdom,” Kyle Noffsinger, pastor of Cadiz Baptist Church, said in announcing Redd’s nomination. Continue reading “Redd nominated for KBC 2nd VP”
